Game Fact
The etymology of the word trivia derives from the Latin tri (three) and via (way). One interpretation of this is a public meeting place situated "where the three roads meet". Back in the days of the Roman Empire it was common for public rest-houses or taverns to be situated at the junctions where three roads converged. Travellers would break their journey by visiting the taverns to gossip and chat about the latest news.

Word of the day romance

What else would you expect today? Hard to believe that the use of romance meaning a love affair only dates back to 1916 and it was nearly 30 years later that it meant courting a lover. Who said romance is dead? It's only just arrived. Of course the word when applied to a love story goes back to the 1600s, but it started life 300 years before as a story of a hero's adventures of chivalry.
